Located high above Tomorrowland in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, you will find the Astro Orbiter. As someone who grew up going to Disney, this was one of the few rides I had never tried, so I was excited to get to experience it for the first time with my preschooler.
On the Astro Orbiter you fly in a rocket ship in a circle around planets, and you have the ability to move your rocket ship higher or lower. You definitely feel a bit of the whip as you go around, but you are rewarded with incredible views of Cinderella Castle and the rest of the park.
There is no height restriction for this ride, and FastPass+ is not available.
Main Street Vehicles – Fire engine
Have you ever noticed those old-fashioned vehicles out in the morning on Main Street, U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom? Did you know that you can ride on them?
The Main Street Vehicles usually run from park opening until only 10:15 a.m. and offer one-way rides from Town Square to Cinderella Castle, and vice versa. Vehicles include a horse-drawn trolley (which is also used in the Main Street Trolley Show), a double-decker omnibus, an old-fashioned fire engine and an old-fashioned car. It varies which vehicles are out each day.
Avatar Flight of Passage
Avatar Flight of Passage is the new headliner attraction at Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. On this 3D screen- and motion-based ride, you are connected to your own avatar and fly on the back of a mountain banshee through the diverse environments of Pandora.
Avatar Flight of Passage
While this ride features a screen like Soarin’, the motions are a little more on par with Star Tours (though not as jarring or abrupt). However, the synchronization and fluidity between the screen and motion of your seat is flawless, and the ride also incorporates wind and smells to create a truly magical and immersive experience. It really does feel like you are flying on the back of a banshee through Pandora.
Na’vi River Journey – Pandora – The World of Avatar
The Na’vi River Journey is a visually stunning, slow-moving boat ride through a bioluminescent rainforest. It is located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s newest section, Pandora – The World of Avatar.
FastPass+ is available for this ride, and there are no height restrictions, so your entire family can ride together.
Each boat only has two rows that can each fit three people (though you can also squeeze in two adults and two small children in a single row).

Floating mountains – Pandora – The World of Avatar
When you cross the bridge into Walt Disney World’s newest land Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, you are instantly transported to another world.
Pandora is home to two attractions, Avatar Flight of Passage and the Nav’i River Journey, but the detailed and immersive landscape is a headliner itself.
The Valley of Mo’ara is filled floating mountains and native Pandoran flora, and it becomes filled with bioluminescence at night.
Make sure you take time to wander through Pandora’s trails to take in the cultural touches, the sounds of Pandora’s creatures, and the truly stunning landscape.
Pandora – The World of Avatar
With the Cinderella Castle in the background and organ music playing well-known Disney songs, a ride on the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is truly a magical experience. Located in Fantasyland, the 1917 carrousel is a nostalgic ride that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
The carrousel features 90 wood-carved horses, and there are several options for riding with small kids.
If someone told you that there is nothing for younger kids to do in Epcot’s World Showcase, then they probably haven’t been on the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros (Donald Duck, Jose Carioca and Panchito).
Based on the animated 1944 Disney film The Three Caballeros, this slow-moving boat ride is located in the back corner of Epcot’s Mexico pavilion (open during regular World Showcase hours). The Three Caballeros have a musical performance scheduled, but Donald Duck is missing. Throughout the boat ride, you see Donald Duck enjoying some of Mexico’s most famous sites, with Jose Carioca and Panchito searching for him a few steps behind.
I thought I would write my first “Attraction Reaction” to Tater’s first-ever Walt Disney World ride – Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Dumbo, based on the beloved Disney movie of the same name, is a slow moving spinner ride which proves that, yes, elephants can fly. Each individual Dumbo has a handle inside that allows you to fly higher or lower, and each Dumbo fits two people, or two adults and an infant/toddler on a lap, or one adult and two small children. Dumbo is located in the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland, and carnival organ music appropriately plays in the background. FastPass+ is available.
For those of you who haven’t been on Dumbo for a while (or ever), I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that there are now two side-by-side identical Dumbo rides. The bad news is that it remains as popular – and busy – as ever.
